Statement

My practice is often exploratory, through my art i tend to observe and take influence from human communication and the way we socially grow and interlace. This has brought me to my focus on nurture; specifically self-care the type we give and receive within family relationships. I enjoy working conceptually, often using sculpture and installation to explore my themes and find my work benefitting from audience interaction. However, since a change in circumstance due to the pandemic, I have enjoyed adapting my work to the digital realm by creating video and using written word to communicate. Most recently I have discovered an interest in ‘sequential art’ which will be my next focus for creative output. I realise that my art is constantly evolving whilst i discover new ways of working so i rarely confine myself to a specific medium; a wider variety of materials allows me to enjoy a more experimental process. I find inspiration in personal and second hand experience from the people surrounding me and have a desire for my work to be accessible and relatable to others. Artists such as Aiden Koch, Jenny Holzer and Mary Kelly have inspired an interest in art writing and the theme of care and comfort; and have helped guide me through an understanding of contemporary art.
